"Come and See" Parish Enrollment Process

The next day John was there again with two of his disciples, and as he watched Jesus walk by, he said, "Behold, the Lamb of God." The two disciples heard what he said and followed Jesus. Jesus turned and saw them following him and said to them, "What are you looking for?" They said to him, "Rabbi" (which translated means Teacher), "where are you staying?" He said to them "Come, and see." So they went and saw where he was staying, and they stayed with him that day. John 1: 35-41.

Our parish family is beginning a new process to welcome our newest parishioners. The "Come and See" process is a way for our parish to welcome them in a more personal way. The process begins with a one-on-one visit with a staff member to get to know each other on a relationship level. This will include prayer, filling out enrollment forms, and sharing written materials about who we are as a parish family. The newly enrolled will then be encouraged to complete our Time, Talent and Treasure commitment form. This visit will establish a sense of what our newest members can expect to get from us and what they hope to give in return. We will also hold a "new parishioner" meal 3-4 times a year to help them get more acquainted with us. Through this process, we want to create a sense of belonging that goes beyond being a mere member on our records to an engaged, active type of membership. What does it mean to "belong" to our parish family? We want new parishioners to "Come and See" and stay awhile as we share our faith with them.
Hospitality is a responsibility of every parishioner. As part of your membership here, we encourage you to welcome those around you at Mass, introduce yourself, share your St. Mary's story with them. We want all who enter our doors to be "welcomed as Christ."
