Reconciliation format
Examine your conscience
Be sorry for your sins
Come to the priest and say
"Bless me Father for I have sinned. It has been ______ since my last Reconciliation, and these are my sins..................."
When finishing confessing say: "These are all my sins."
After Father gives your penance he will ask you to say the Act of Contrition.
Here is one example:
My God, I am sorry for my sins with all my heart.
In choosing to do wrong and failing to do good,
I have sinned against you whom I should love above all things. I firmly intend with your help, to do penance,
to sin no more and to avoid whatever leads me to sin.
Our Savior Jesus Christ suffered and died for us.
In His name, my God have mercy. Amen.
Father prays the prayer of absolution (forgiveness) over you.
Father says: "Your sins are forgiven. Go in peace."
You respond: "Thanks be to God."
You can thank Father and leave the confessional to return to pray at your pew.
